INTRODUCING THE ‘OUCH-TAKES’
Proving even the professionals can slip a pedal, catch an edge or wash out, Halfords has released the Ouch Takes. Classic ‘over-the-bars’ footage of pro-mountain biker, stunt man and general crash test dummy, Rob Jarman.
The footage was taken whilst filming a viral video for Halfords’ exclusive Boardman bikes in South Wales late last year. Filming in winter is never easy and this shoot was no exception with gale force winds blowing across the track.
Rob fills in the details: “I came round the corner and was faced with three fairly straight forward, smallish, table-tops. However as soon as both wheels were off the ground the wind took control and keeping the bike on course and not scrubbing speed was proving difficult. On the second ‘take’ I must have caught a pedal on entry to the second jump and just flipped over the bars. Luckily I had the presence of mind to ‘roll out’ and - of course - my Boardman helmet did its job spectacularly.”
Halfords has used the footage to demonstrate that however good you think you are, a helmet is as important to a cyclist as wheels and brakes.
